Organizational 5 Year Goals 2010-2015

Taiga Claims the North

We are seeking to acquire a permanent lodge that can accommodate 20-30 people, that has waterfront access and green space for satellite canvas tents to house additional campers, staff and guest artists.

Cultivating a Culture of Participation

We are dedicated to continually improve the quality of our program so that campers experience maximum benefits, and promote a proactive Taiga community.

Taiga is committed to its leader-in-training program which provides an opportunity for returning Taiga campers that have interest in a career as a camp counselor.

Taiga More Than a Summer Fling

Taiga striving to grow its operation to support year-round staff, and develop a five-year strategic plan.

Northern Women: Inspiring and Courageous Leaders

To strengthen connections to current women in the north who are leaders and showcase their talent.  We are seeking to develop spring and winter adventures in the future.

Continued partnership with the NWT Recreation and Parks Association to build on our river trip programming and mobility across more regions and water systems in the territory.

Building Personal Resilience

We are very focused on how Taiga camps are customized to ensure we are meeting camper needs.  Our team continues to research on resilience training and leadership.

Develop a “taiga tool box” that will include our best practices and lessons learned.

Public Recognition and Regard

We are dedicated to spread the word about the value and benefits of summer camp experience for young northern women.  We work with community and political leaders, educators, health and recreation officials and media representatives.

Abundant Partnerships, Abundant Resources

Our goal is to secure an increased number and value of multi-year funding partnerships.

We are committed to engage community participation and are working on developing a volunteer program.

Collaboration through preventative and positive action

We work in partnership with the YWCA Yellowknife and other organizations that share our vision to empower a generation of young northern women leaders.

Taiga Strives and Thrives

Our goal is to encourage Taiga peer to peer networking opportunities throughout the territory and virtually.  This will increase communication and participation among campers, staff, board, funders and supporters.

We are interested in reaching out to the circumpolar world to showcase Northwest Territories young leaders, and learn from other young women across the north.
